Spheruleus



Spheruleus is British musician and producer Harry Towell, who releases ambient music in the drone, dark ambient, and musique concrete subgenres, under the project names Audio Gourmet, Eyes Flutter Beneath, and now as Spheruleus. He creates ambient textures designed chiefly to be listened to at low volume for quiet contemplation.

His first EP was released on Webbed Hand Records; since then he has released three subsequent albums on that netlabel. His first venture away from Webbed Hand was with Phantom Channel.

Harry typically uses his own field recordings in all of his album-length projects, feeling that it adds a personal touch to his soundscapes. He has been experimenting with electronic music production for over six years. Since 2007, he has been focusing more and more on ambient/drone genres. In the future, Harry plans to pushing his music in new stylistic directions, incorporating new ideas and techniques along the way.

He is not classically trained, but he has a great ear for hearing sound holistically. His works are less geared towards traditional forms and more oriented towards soundscapes and ambient washes.

Harry runs a simple and light-hearted blog site, that publishes his adventures in music. He has very wide musical tastes, and on the blog you will find all sorts of tracks, albums, mixes and ideas — a sort of scrap-book chronicling his travels through the world of sound.

    yeah thanks guys, Im so delighted that you have posted up my entire discography up for free download.

    i must have mentioned somewhere that this is not my main job, which justified you taking the liberty of making it available for free.
    And of course, we probably have too many record labels anyway dont we? so it doesnt really matter if a few of them fold because of dwindling as a result of consumers downloading fof free. Far too many artists too so why not try and make a few of them give up altogether by illegally sharing their ENTIRE discography for free?

    A lot of us will fade away, labels and artists, which would normally make the music rare and difficult to track down but at least we have kind people like you making it accessible for nothing, so none of this matters now.

    To reward you all, I will start work on a searing, wretching session of screaming din noise with subliminal messaging in spoken word, EQed with the highest frequencies that not only make your eardrums bleed but also subconsciously make you feel bad. I'll also do an acoustic bonus EP to express my gratitude to you all, sung absolutely terribly and baked with a full arrangement of instruments specially detuned by my friend's dog. The first 100 downloaders get a free cake with an anthrax coating, hand delivered by a fire breathing dragon.

    Forgive the lashings of sarcasm, it's just i'm much better at it than cursing and it almost feels satisfying, a bit. Until I scan back and read this website again.

    Hi there,

    Much of this music was not made available for free in the first place, so the fact that you got it for free means that you have obtained it illegally from an illegal file sharing website. Posting it up for free again is just as illegal and infringes the copyright on it held by both the labels and artists.

    Whilst your kind response is at least something, I have chosen to contact blogger asking for it all to be removed, since you are hurting music. Artists and labels may cease to exist as a direct result of websites like this and I cannot sit back and allow it to happen.

    Harry Towell arretes de geindre comme une petite fille capricieuse.
    J'ai découvert des artistes comme toi grâce à ce site. Sinon je ne savais même pas que toi et quelques autres vous existiez.
    Parce-que dans la musique que vous faîtes ils y a des milliers d'artistes, on s'y perd vite, de plus vos labels ou productions sont de toute façon presque inconnu et donc souvent impossible à acheter les disques.
    Moi je telecharge OUI. Je découvre ainsi. Des fois j'ai des coups de coeurs, et quand j'aime et que je réussi à trouver un disque à acheter (si possible en vynil) alors j'achete ! Car aussi je collectionne les disques originaux, souvent rares, souvent introuvable...
    Harry Towell tu ne passes pas sur MTV, c'est grace à ces blogs ou a YOU TUBE qu'on te découvre.
    Et les gens qui écoutent ces musiques avant-gardiste et experimentales sont en générale des vrais amateur et puriste, et même s'ils download souvent ils veulent aussi une vrai version officiel du disque avec un très bon son (pas mp3).
    Donc tu peux dire merci à ce blog et arrete de te plaindre.
